Surreal Collage Mini Story

I love cutting up words/phrases and making surrealist stories. I’ve been doing this with newspapers, books, and magazines since I was a kid. Here is a little book I did last night when I had insomnia. The mount is paper that I handmade from onion skins and filler pulp. I am going to bind this with wire.
The books I sampled from were:
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (my fave book ever)
Animal Farm by George Orwell
An old children’s science book

  1. After dipping my toe in the book art world this summer, I am amazed! What a beautiful series. I’ll be interested in seeing how you bind this. Are these favorite phrases or chance? Plus you are making your own paper. I think you are are a creative roll.

  2. thanks for the comments,

the phrases are pretty much by chance, i have a bunch of old books that are falling apart, and i’ll just rip out a page and cut whatever catches my eye…

i’m going to punch a few holes on the edge and bind it with wire, like a spiral bind…

i’m thinking of using an acrylic sealer over everything but i’m not sure yet…any ideas anyone?
