People I’ve Met: Mary Alice Wimmer

POIRE WILLIAM, Watercolor, 22 x 30″

REMAINS: CHRISTOPHER’S NEST, Silverpoint Drawing, 16 x 20″

REMAINS: PAPILIO ANTHEUS & PETROSELINU, Watercolor, 16 x 20″

Mary Alice Wimmer was my art professor when I attended the University of Wisconsin-Rock County. I believe she is now retired, from what I’ve heard. Which is good, because I know she has been working a lot on her artwork and preparing for exhibitions. She is very influenced by the Italian Renaissance, and she visits Italy regularly.

I’ve been meaning to visit the Tory Folliard Gallery in Milwaukee, which she is represented by. They have a lot of other interesting artists there as well, like Dennis Nechvatal (whom I’ve also met at a program he was involved in awhile back at the UW-RC)
